18 Erbe 1117: Gashuumi – Tlianke/Hinterworlds (1206 B527769-7 O:1104 923 Na M4 V M9 D)
This is Kapan Do’Rex, First Officer of the Free Trader Grayswandir, filling in for Captain Derek Kodai while he is undergoing medical treatment.
As the Captain is currently incapacitated, I have assumed command of the Grayswandir, with the approval of the majority of those crew members who are not in treatment. Second Officer Saahna Denan has provided me with access to all of the ship’s systems and suggested that I continue this log, as it seemed to be important to Captain Kodai.
Note: Provision for such access should have been provided to me without Second Officer Denan’s intervention, as is standard for the First Officer. I must ask the Captain to make such arrangements when he is again capable of such an action. I should not have to depend on the privileges given to his current mate to obtain the access I need.
All passengers have been disembarked. Passenger Reina Dradon has recovered quickly, with routine treatment. Her injuries seemed to have mostly been the result of the corrosive agent used instead of the neurotoxic substance which felled Captain Kodai and Steward Tharis.
We are fortunate that, of the four sophonts in the Passenger Lounge at the time, that only two of them succumbed to the worst of the attack.
We have also unloaded and delivered all of our Freight. The speculative cargoes that Captain Kodai had purchased have been moved to a warehouse, to allow Gashuumi Downport personnel to begin repairs on the Grayswandir. Engineer Wistina is supervising those efforts, to ensure that no further sabotage is performed.
I have not undertaken the sale of our speculative cargoes as I do not have the skill possessed by Captain Kodai to perform such an action. Additionally, 2nd Officer Denan has not provided me with access to the Grayswandir‘s financials. She has stated that our assets are sufficient to provide treatment for both Captain Kodai and Steward Tharis and to effect the needed repairs. However, we will have only a small reserve fund remaining when all is complete.
Captain Kodai had previously stated that his intention was for the Grayswandir to proceed to Mupikaa as our next destination. I have provided this information to Starport Operations but stressed that our departure was dependant upon the outcome of the repairs to the Grayswandir and the recovery of Captain Kodai and Steward Tharis.
I have relocated myself to a hostel in the Starport, specializing in the needs of non-humaniti Travellers. The other crew members have found their own accommodations. I will continue to update this log from there until Captain Kodai is fit to resume his duties.
