Engineer Wistina contacted me today with the status of repairs on the Grayswandir. The primary damage is a crack in one of the zuchai crystals, which focus the energies from the Jump Drive. Replacement is a necessity before we can attempt to Jump again.
Engineer Wistina also stated that the repair crews would be replacing a large portion of the life support system and the dorsal airlock, usually used by the air-raft. The air-raft itself needs to be replaced since it was jettisoned. However, as it is not necessary for the regular operation of the Grayswandir, I have declined to authorize that expenditure.
Second Officer Denan also contacted me. As the Grayswandir‘s Security Officer, she had received additional interrogation and information from Hegemony Security. Former passengers Damaris and Kyris Steton have been placed under arrest for the attack on the Grayswandir and a request for additional information regarding them, and their recent actions, have been sent to Girar. Because of Jump Communication Delay, it will be at least two weeks before any information will be received.
Second Officer Denan also stated that she has been spending time at the starport Medical Center to monitor the treatment of Captain Kodai and Steward Tharis. Both of them are no longer in any danger and will recover. Captain Kodai should be out of treatment in the next day or two, while Steward Tharis will need an additional day or two beyond that. Both of them will be active before repairs to the Grayswandir are complete.
I was later contacted by former passenger Reina Dradon inquiring into the status of Steward Tharis and Captain Kodai. Former passenger Dradon and her companion, former passenger Karran Trisk, have been keeping in contact with Engineer Wistina, Gunner Holt, and Second Officer Denan during their stay here on Gashuumi. However, they are scheduled to depart before Captain Kodai and Steward Tharis will have recovered, and former passenger Dradon has asked me to deliver a sealed message and a container to Steward Tharis when she does, and to apologize to her for being unable to tell her goodbye in person. I assured her that I would pass on her message when I am able.
