030-1117 – Jumpspace

1 Sina 1117: Jumpspace

OK, I’m sore.

We had the Zero-G races today. Everyone joined in. I guess everyone gets a bit bored in Jumpspace.

I didn’t do as badly as I had expected; I wound up in the top half, at least. Saahna won, which I had expected, and Dr. Korvusar came in second. I’m sure the fact that they set up the course had nothing to do with their win. I still think they had a hidden shortcut somewhere.

The surprise, to me, was Gherome; he came in third. I later found out that he had lived in a Belt for a while before moving to Fugitak. I guess that’s why Fugitak seemed like an improvement to him.

Kyla also did surprisingly well. Well, she wasn’t in the top half, but she navigated the course effortlessly, squealing in delight the entire time. She’ll be a natural.

Jeorge wasn’t so lucky. He got sick almost immediately and refused to go back into the Cargo Bay. Atana stayed with him, and so she didn’t participate either.

Jami stayed with Amada until I basically ordered her to run it. She did fine, but only made the one run. Do’rex also made his run but didn’t seem that interested and headed back to the Bridge almost immediately.

Varan had more trouble with the course than I would have expected. He supposedly has a Zero-G certification; it’s kinda necessary for a Steward to get passengers to the evacuation pods if something disastrous happens, but he acted as if he had never been in Zero-G before. I’m going to have to talk to him about that.

So yeah, I came in 4th out of 9. I’ll take it.

The rest of the day was spent on a “celebratory” dinner. I took Atana, Gherome, and the kids on a tour of the ship (with enough gravity returned to the Cargo Bay to let us through to Engineering), and they seemed to enjoy it.

Beyond that, not much happened today. So yeah… we’re in Jumpspace.
